To promote in-depth research collaboration, strengthen academic exchange, and share the latest achievements in materials science and engineering, the Faculty of Materials Technology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) hosted the JICA AUN/SEED-Net Regional Conference on Materials Engineering (RCME2025) and the International Symposium on Materials Science and Engineering (ISMSE 2025) on July 23–24, 2025, within the framework of the AUN/SEED-Net project.

The symposium attracted over 100 delegates, including experts from the AUN/SEED-Net network, representatives from businesses, researchers, lecturers, and students from various domestic and international universities.

RCME2025 & ISMSE 2025 served not only as a significant academic platform but also as a great step forward in international integration and the enhancement of research and training quality in materials science and engineering. A total of 65 papers were submitted, with 40 of them presented during the event, offering diverse and in-depth perspectives on research topics related to materials.

In addition to academic exchange, the Faculty of Materials Technology organized a field trip on July 24, 2025, to Malaya – Vietnam Glass Limited (O-I BJC) located in Phu My ward, Ho Chi Minh City. This activity aimed to connect academic research with practical industrial applications and expand cooperation opportunities between HCMUT and businesses. During the visit, researchers and the O-I BJC representatives also discussed the use of hydrogen gas as a fuel for glass furnaces and the recovery of glass cullets during the melting process.

This event served as an important academic platform, contributing to the strengthening of international cooperation and enhancing the quality of the faculty’s research and training. In line with the plan, the symposium is held annually, creating opportunities for connection among lecturers, students, and researchers.
