The Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Study Programs (AQAS) (Germany) formally released its decision on December 4, 2023, to accredit 07 training programs of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) – Vietnam National University-HCM.
This accreditation granting to the programs in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is the result of a strict inspection process. The achievement has increased the total quantity of accredited programs in HCMUT to 64, maintaining its leading position in the country.
The 03 training programs in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering obtaining a new AQAS certificate are as follows:
Textile Engineering;
Textile and Clothing Technology;
Logistics and Supply chain management (the regular program and the one taught in English).
The 04 training programs in the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering re-obtaining an AQAS certificate are as follows::
Electrical Engineering;
Control and Engineering and Automation;
Electronics – Telecommunications Engineering;
Electrical – Electronics Engineering (Advanced program).
Remarkably, the two training programs of Logistics & Supply Chain Management and Electrical – Electronics Engineering (Advanced program) receive ‘unconditional’ accreditation (valid for 06 years until January 31, 2030). These are the first two in Vietnam to be unconditionally accredited under the AQAS standards.
Before releasing this decision, AQAS organized two on-site working sessions at HCMUT from July 25-27, 2023 (with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering) and from July 31 – August 2, 2023 (with the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering). The sessions enjoyed great success thanks to the careful preparation of relevant departments and faculties and the support from AQAS.
In its accreditation report, the AQAS Expert Council highly appreciates HCMUT’s accredited training programs this time, saying that this achievement displays the effective implementation of academic tasks in the university to satisfy international standards.
