Awarding Japan Create scholarships and EVN scholarships to students

Japan Create Scholarship

20 students from the University of Science and Technology are honored to receive scholarship funding from Japan Create Corporation, Japan, totaling 260 million VND. This is the first scholarship program implemented based on the cooperation agreement signed between Japan Create Corporation and the school in February 2024.

The scholarship awarding ceremony took place on the afternoon of September 4, 2024, with the presence of Mr. Satoshi Kato – Chairman of Japan Create, along with the corporation’s leadership. From the University of Science and Technology, there was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tran Vu – Vice President, along with leaders of various departments and students.

After a selection process from 60 potential candidates enrolled in the Japan-oriented Program (including Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering), Japan Create Corporation has chosen 20 outstanding students to receive scholarships, each worth 13 million VND.

These scholarships prioritize students in the Japan-oriented Program who have strong academic performance, are active in extracurricular activities, and especially have a desire to work in Japan. According to Mr. Satoshi Kato, the Japan Create scholarship program will continue in the coming years to motivate students to strive for excellence, while also strengthening cooperation with the school to organize career orientation workshops, introduce Japanese culture, and further promote the partnership between both sides, particularly enhancing opportunities for students to engage with, understand, and prepare for their career paths in Japan.


EVN Scholarship for the 2023-2024 Academic Year

On the afternoon of September 6, 2024, at Hall B4, Vietnam Electricity Group held a ceremony to award the EVN scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic year, celebrating and encouraging 100 students with outstanding achievements in learning and training from the University of Science and Technology and four member schools of the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City.

Among the attendees was Dr. Vo Quang Lam – Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity Group, along with representatives from the corporation. From the Southern Power Corporation, Mr. Hua Thanh Nhan – Deputy General Director was present. The Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation was represented by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nha – Deputy General Director and other representatives. The ceremony was honored to welcome leaders from various departments of the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City and leaders of the member universities. From the University of Science and Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Ky Phuong Ha – Vice President, along with department heads and students, also attended.

As part of the cooperation agreement between the University of Science and Technology and Vietnam Electricity Group from 2022 to 2025, for the 2023-2024 academic year, the Vietnam Electricity Group scholarship program has provided a funding package worth 500 million VND for students at the University of Science and Technology. During the ceremony, 50 outstanding students from the Mechanical Engineering, Electrical – Electronics, and Computer Science and Engineering faculties were honored to receive scholarships, each valued at 10 million VND.

In addition to providing scholarships, Vietnam Electricity Group and the University of Science and Technology have had a strong partnership for a long time through technology transfer, training collaboration, and student recruitment. Vietnam Electricity Group will continue to offer scholarships in the new academic year (2024-2025) to motivate students and further strengthen cooperation with the university.
