The 357th program assessment under the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) standards was initiated at the VNUHCM Headquarters on the morning of October 24. The four training programs, which include HCMUSSH’s Anthropology and Geography, UEL’s Economics, and MEDVNU’s Doctor of Medicine, are officially being assessed under the AUN-QA standards.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam, Vice Chancellor of VNUHCM, the external evaluation of training programs according to the AUN-QA standards has been an annual tradition at VNUHCM since 2009. This tradition continued even in the challenging context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The evaluation holds special significance this time as it marks the first occasion when an international delegation conducts on-site assessments at VNUHCM post-pandemic,. Furthermore, this is the first time that a MEDVNU’s training program is evaluated under this set of standards.
Mr. Tam expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m very pleased to meet and engage in face-to-face discussions with AUN-QA experts instead of virtual platforms. I’m confident that the insights provided by these specialists will be invaluable in our ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of our training.”
AUN-QA assessors have been selected from universities in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand. The evaluation delegation will collaborate with those responsible for assessing the four training programs at VNUHCM, along with relevant parties such as employers, alumni, faculty, support staff, and students. This assessment process will extend from October 24 to 26.
Up to this point, 126 of VNUHCM’s training programs have successfully met regional and global accreditation criteria, with 90 of them having been assessed by AUN-QA.
