The Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu, announced that the HCMIU will be turning 20 this coming December. Over two decades of establishment and development, the University has prided itself on being Vietnam’s first public international university. It has an autonomous, high-quality educational model and remarkable achievements in educational innovation and training.

Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam, VNUHCM Vice Chancellor, commended the HCMIU as a pioneer in reform initiatives and the first autonomous institution in the VNUHCM system, leading in using English in teaching, establishing a diverse international learning environment, hosting strong research groups with many scientific publications, and attracting a lot of international experts and lecturers.

Given these strengths, the VNUHCM Board of Chancellors expects the HCMIU to collaborate with other member universities, such as the University of Technology, the University of Information Technology, and the University of Science, to spearhead fields like semiconductor technology, biotechnology, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence (AI) at the forefront of Asia.

Annually, VNUHCM Development Foundation mobilizes sponsorship to award scholarships to valedictorians across its member universities. For the 2023-2024 academic year, the Foundation allocated two scholarships for the HCMIU, each valued at VND 30 million, sponsored by the HCMC branch of Vietcombank. The scholarships were awarded to valedictorians Nguyen Viet Hoang (based on the VNUHCM competency test scores) and Tran Nguyen Xuan Nguyen (based on the national high school graduation exam scores).
