The visit and working session of Hainan University on the afternoon of September 12th, 2024, are expected to open up many opportunities for establishing relations between Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) and its first academic partner from China.
The meeting was attended by Mr. He Yong, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of Hainan University, and other university leaders, on behalf of HCMUT, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Ky Phuong Ha, the Vice President, and heads of departments welcomed the delegation.
As a key public university of Hainan Province, China, Hainan University currently offers 18 doctoral programs, 57 master’s programs, and 76 undergraduate programs, with around 45,000 students. The university’s disciplines span economics, law, and humanities to science, medicine, agriculture, engineering, and management. Some of these disciplines overlap with those at HCMUT, with both universities expressing a desire for deeper collaboration in Chemistry, Biology, Food Technology, Environmental Ecology, and others.
In addition, both HCMUT and Hainan University share a common goal of internationalizing education, intending to expand their academic networks with foreign partners. During the meeting, the leaders of the two universities actively discussed and agreed on key areas of potential collaboration, including talent training through exchange programs, enhancing scientific research capabilities in specialised fields such as food security, climate change, and ecology, and particularly fostering cultural exchange between the two neighboring countries.
