The degree awarding and graduation ceremony for nearly 2,800 fresh graduates of all levels (doctoral programs, master programs, bachelor programs) took place on the morning of November 18th, 2022 at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) campus. Among 2,800 graduates, there are 27 doctorates, 228 master’s and 2,500 bachelor’s degree holders.

Attendees at the ceremony consisted Vice Chancellor of Viet Nam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam and other representatives of Departments, Chairman of the HCMUT Board of Trustees Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Minh Phuong, HCMUT President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong and Vice Presidents, Deans or Vice Deans of faculties, Directors or Vice Directors of Offices and Centers; Standing Vice Chairman of HCMUT Alumni Association (BKA) Mr. Ho Minh Tri; Executive Vice Chairman of HCMUT Alumni Association (BKA) Vo Dai Khoi, graduates’ parents and fresh graduates.

At the ceremony, HCMUT President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong congratulated all the fresh graduates and had some insightful sharing that “it is important to study well at university, but it is not all, you (these fresh graduates) need to quickly integrate into the new environment after graduation and start the process of self-study and self-improvement throughout their life as soon as possible. I believe that the knowledge and skills acquired from the university will support you well. But bravery, will and ability to self-study are the decisive factors for your success in the future.”
During the graduation ceremony, the University also honored and rewarded 59 graduates of master’s and bachelor’s programs, who have had excellent academic achievements and thesis defense, topping the graduation list; ranked high in the list of graduates belonging to respective faculties. The new valedictorian of the whole intake in Computer Engineering offered by the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering is Le Khac Minh Dang with a score of 9.46.
The University also honored and rewarded 59 graduates of master’s and bachelor’s programs, who have had excellent academic achievements and thesis defense, topping the graduation list; ranked high in the list of graduates belonging to respective faculties.
Representing graduates giving a speech at the ceremony, Ms. Ngo Hoang Bao Tran, a student of the intake K18 of the English-taught program in Chemical Engineering, a winner of the Vietnam Science and Technology Award for Young Scientists in 2022 (the Gold Medalist), expressed her emotion while looking back on her four-year journey at the University with many happy and sad memories. She also conveyed her deep gratitude to professors, lecturers at the University, family and friends for their enthusiastic support during each step of their growth process.
On this occasion, the Executive Vice President of BKA and Chairman of Trung Hau Group Mr. Vo Dai Khoi also congratulated all graduates. In the emotional atmosphere of the graduation ceremony, he reminisced about his study and growing-up days at the University. He also shared more about the start-up process and his growth after his 17-year graduation. Starting from zero until now, he has been successful as Chairman of Trung Hau Group; Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association; Top 10 Outstanding Young Entrepreneurs in Ho Chi Minh City in 2016 and 2018; Top 100 Typical Young Entrepreneurs of Vietnam in 2017 and 2019.

After graduating, these fresh graduates have officially become members of the University’s Alumni Community network to support co-development. The Representative Board of the University’s Alumni Association (BKA) was established in April 2020. Along with the University development, members of BKA have increased day by day with the number of approx. 100,000 people.
