School of Industrial Management welcomed Dr. Truong Thi Lan Anh as the guest speaker in the seminar “Bias in Workplace” in the first week of 2024.
Dr. Truong Thi Lan Anh, an expert in Organizational development, shared bias definitions, types of biases, with SIM lecturers and students. The share has raised the awareness of biases, which can be classified in 3 groups: individual level, group level and organizational lelvel.
Biases can drive to ineffective decisions, which have impacts on individual/group/organizational performance and efficiency. The keys to summarise include:
- (1) Unconscious biases are around,
- (2) Identifying unconscious biases to develop DE&I organization,
- (3) leaders should be the 1 first mover in perceiving own-biases,
- (4) bias training & mitigation interventions are required organizations.
