We were delighted when Ms. Trang, a guest speaker invited by our lecturer, Dr. Nguyen Thi Duc Nguyen, visited our supply chain management class on October 24, 2024, and shared some crucial supply chain points. In addition to offering insightful information on her varied career, Ms. Trang urged students to broaden their work experiences in order to increase their expertise.
LESSON LEARNED
Her focus on establishing strong supply chains via collaboration and agility aligns with the more general need for businesses to adopt new technologies and cultivate enduring partnerships with suppliers. It is impossible to overestimate the significance of precise demand forecasting, adaptable inventory control, and successful risk reduction since these components are essential for negotiating market uncertainty.
Long-term success also requires investing in worker development and a dedication to sustainability. In ultimately, through integrating these ideas, companies may improve operational effectiveness while also creating an exciting environment that adapts to shifting consumer needs, guaranteeing long-term growth and a competitive advantage in the global economy.
The lessons gained from the difficulties of conventional supply chains as well as Ms. Trang’s observations highlight how important flexibility, adaptation, and ongoing innovation are in the modern business setting.
CAREER DIRECTION
Ms. Trang shared that she has had a very varied and colorful career. Although she did not have a clear career path at first, she eventually started working in production planning. Her daily responsibilities include keeping an eye on the factory’s production schedule and informing clients of developments. She also answers questions from clients about logistics. Ms. Trang stressed that the work in the supply chain is not as strict as many people believe, and it does not demand a high level of mathematical proficiency. She advised students who are still unsure about their career choices to try out different professions in order to obtain experience when approached for assistance.
Depending on the type of work, students need to have certain technical skills and knowledge. Additionally important are soft skills like communication and English proficiency. Her response to the question of whether employers require graduates to have exceptional marks allayed many people’s concerns. According to her, the majority of employers seek applicants who are keen learners, hardworking, and creative. Her insightful observations have helped our group members better grasp the career routes we hope to pursue in the future. Additionally, we are less stressed by the pressure to find employment following university. Furthermore, as “everything depends on fate” and “the profession chooses you, not you choose the profession,” we understand that just because we are studying on operations and supply chain management, it does not guarantee that we will work in this field in the future.
OUR FEELINGS
We were also deeply impacted by the supply chain management sharing session. In addition to improving our comprehension of this profession, Ms. Trang’s insightful experiences and knowledge gave us fresh insights into our potential career paths. When we understand that having a clear direction from the beginning is not necessary, we become more motivated and self-assured. We realized that every action we do helps to shape our own path when Ms. Trang stressed the value of acquiring practical experience and soft skills. In addition to offering helpful knowledge, the session motivated us to investigate and follow our interests in the industrial industry.
